7 Cute Ways to Celebrate National Puppy Day

Did you know that National Puppy Day is coming up March 23rd? Whether your canine buddy is still a puppy, or just thinks he is, this is a great time to show him some extra TLC. Read on as a Clio, MI vet lists some great ways to celebrate National Puppy Day.

Treats

One sure way to get Fido’s cute tail going is to give him a tasty snack. While you don’t want to overindulge your pooch with fatty treats, this special occasion calls for something yummy. Cooked, plain meat, fish, or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat, is a great bet.

New Toys

Playing is of course fun for Fido, but it’s also great for his health and well-being. Pick up a new toy for your pet, and spend some time playing with him. This will provide your four-legged friend with activity and stimulation, and help him burn off excess energy. It’s also a great way to brighten up your furry pal’s day, and strengthen that special bond dogs have with their human friends.

Bedding

One of the best things you can do for your canine friend is to make sure that he has a comfy bed. Large breeds and senior dogs may appreciate the extra support of an orthopedic bed, while smaller pups may prefer beds with raised sides.

Fun Excursion

Fido really wants nothing more than to spend some quality time with his best friend: you! Take your pooch for a long walk, or visit a new doggy park or pet café.

Doghouse

Do you have a yard for your pet to chase squirrels around in? Why not get your furry buddy a doghouse, or make him a puppy playzone?

Photo Session

Take time to get some cute shots of your canine companion being his adorable self. Choose a background that contrasts with your pet’s fur. You may also want to download a pet camera app: they make sounds that will draw Fido’s attention, so he doesn’t look away as you’re snapping your shots.

Quality Time

Spend some quiet time with Fido, and offer him lots of belly rubs and ear scritches. Dogs are wonderful friends and companions, and the time we spend with them is truly precious.
