4 Things That Make Cats Happy

4 Things That Make Cats Happy

Our feline friends enrich our lives in many ways. They’re not only super adorable, they also have a special way of making us smile with their funny antics, cute faces, and loving purrs and cuddles. It’s no wonder that so many people like to pamper their cats! Fluffy doesn’t need expensive toys, however. In fact, kitties often prefer simple pleasures. Below, a Flushing, MI vet lists some of Fluffy’s favorite things.

Sunbeams

Have you ever found your cat sprawled out in a patch of sunlight, looking completely content? Most likely, the answer is yes. Kitties certainly do love sunbathing! We’re pretty sure that Fluffy doesn’t actually run on solar power, but she certainly loves to soak up the sun. Open the blinds in the morning, so your furball can spend time in her favorite sunbeam.

Boxes

To say that cats like boxes is a bit of an understatement. We know that our feline friends feel safe and secure in small, enclosed spaces, although this doesn’t explain why kitties also love boxes that are clearly much too big or too small for them. We do know that if you put an empty box down in front of your furball, that box probably won’t stay empty for long. For bonus purrs, make Fluffy a little box condo or box castle.

Beds

If you have a kitty, you’ve probably noticed that our feline buddies sleep a lot. Actually, Fluffy may spend as much as 20 hours a day napping. Offer your drowsy furball a variety of comfy spots to curl up in. Pet beds are great, of course, but you can also simply fold up a soft blanket and put it in a box or wicker basket, or even on a chair.

Attention

Kitties need to feel loved to truly thrive. Spend time with your cat every day, talking to her, playing with her, and petting her. Fluffy will know that you’re paying attention to her, and will feel loved and cared for. Just be sure to abide by your kitty’s attention preferences. Some cats like belly rubs, while others prefer to be held. Of course, if your furball treats you like kitty furniture, take it as a high compliment, and a sure sign of Fluffy’s love.
